A mediator is not there to simply pass a message between the parties. Instead, the parties engage a mediator to assist them to resolve their disputes and to help the parties path a way to settlement, through sometimes difficult negotiations.

We aim to build a good rapport with all parties and to fully understand what drives the parties and the reasons for their respective positions whilst also focusing on where the parties want to be, not where they are.

It is one of the many jobs as a mediator to manage the parties expectations and to help them through their dispute as well as to encourage creative problem solving techniques and working towards a deal in principle and to recognise the negotiation styles adopted by the parties and to create a strategy for movement and progression as well as recognising barriers that may prevent a settlement.  Quite often, what is value to one party may not be value to another party.

Our mediators have excellent communication skills and will assist the parties to exchange information confidentially and with confidence, helping the parties to make sustainable progress and to avoid any potential deadlock and to remind the parties that no deal is complete until it is recorded in an agreement and signed by all of the parties.
